Hello from Crete!
Today, we had one of our favorite days yet. We woke up to an amazing breakfast at the hotel which included fresh Greek yogurt and local honey. We met up with our local guide, Joseph, at 9AM to take a bus ride to an active archaeological site on Mt.Karfi, where we learned about Creten wild herbs, Minoan settlements, and how the locals still herd goats.
We had the fortunate opportunity to meet up with a goat herder who still lives off grid tending to his goats and making fresh cheese in his home.
We then hiked down the mountain to a lovely lunch that was prepared underneath a beautiful shade tree. We had stuffed squash blossoms, amazing chicken, fresh taziki sauce, and Greek salad.
We visited some local springs and an olive oil press and took a tour on how the oil has been made for centuries.
Thanks for tuning in!
