The Empire and the Beauty

Hello friends and family!!

Today, July 18, amidst the scorching sun, we embarked on a memorable journey filled with resilience. Our adventure began with a delicious, traditional Italian breakfast consisting of pastries and choice of coffee or water.

Next on our agenda was a visit to the Musei Capitolini accompanied by the remarkable Valentina, our knowledgeable guide. Within the museum’s hallowed halls, we immersed ourselves in the captivating tales of Roman emperors and the rich history that shapes the essence of Rome itself.

Lunchtime beckoned us to a charming local piazza for a well-deserved meal. Splitting into small groups, we explored local restaurants and afterwards indulged in some authentic gelato.

At 4:30 we ventured towards to the colosseum using the subway which got added a touch of excitement to our day. After the chaotic but exhilarating subway ride we finally reached the colosseum, where we reunited with our tour guide. She led us through the colosseum, teaching us about the fascinating lives of gladiators and the emperors that funded this entertainment.

Our journey continues as we paused to explore the Roman Forums, in which remnants of important ancient government buildings we’re located. Despite the high temperatures we ensured that hydration was a constant and that everyone was applying sunscreen.

We wrapped this day up by having an amazing family style meal at a restaurant near by the hotel.
