Adventures in Santorini

We arrived in Santorini via ferry a little before lunch time. Our hotel was quite beautiful, reminding many of us of the fan favorite movie Mamma Mia. After arriving at the hotel, we enjoyed a relaxing lunch at the resort. We indulged in smoothies, salads, and crepes. Then, after lunch, to escape the heat, we took a swim in the pool at the hotel. We bonded through playing pool games like mermaids and categories.

Later that evening, we explored the picturesque village of Oia. Oia is rich with delicious Greek cuisine, charming boutiques, and of course, gorgeous views. While in the village, we enjoyed a quick dinner and were able to celebrate Audrey’s birthday with a stunning sunset over the sea. Additionally, many of us shopped in the plethora of boutiques, and got some delicious Greek frozen yogurt and gelato. After arriving back at the hotel, we reflected on our exciting first day in Santorini during our nightly meeting, and begun looking forward to what was to come the next day.

On our second day in Santorini, we ventured to the archeological site of Akrotiri. We learned about the usage of different materials and techniques in the various types of buildings, the advancement of trade regarding textiles and art, and the development of the sewage system. We read about the discovery of objects through plastering odd-looking shapes. This led to the finding of bed frames. After this expedition, group #1 made their way to a cooking class. We made feta pies, Greek donuts, Greek salad, and tomato fritters. All in good company.
